Detailed design of safety measures and ecological areas

IMDC can propose and design for each location the most appropriate measures to protect critical areas from inundation: controlled inundation areas, pumping stations, dykes, .... In evaluating the inundation risk we do not only take into account the risk from hydraulic overtopping but also from a possible dyke failure.  Respect for nature and ecology is a major concern through the complete design process. We also conceptualise and design works that are specifically intended to improve the conditions of habitats, ecosystems and species (reduced inundation areas, wetlands, depoldering).
